Organizational Meeting, January 7th, 2008

In the excitement and anticipation of Elvis' birthday on the 8th, we missed this meeting.

The board made its appointments for coming year with Michael Eurey to fill the remainder of the term of Lisa Dowling on the planning board.

Supervisor Johnson made an additional appointment; Barbara Buckman, as his Deputy Supervisor. This position is appointed by the Supervisor and assumes the responsibilities of the Supervisor in his absence.

Planning Board meeting January 21, 2008:

All board members were present, including new Alternate, Georgia Canfield. Also present; Tony Ritter, ZBA, and Dave Sparling, Code Enforcement. Chris and I missed the public hearing on the Knaub Farm Stand. At the regular meeting, after reading of Correspondence, a motion was passed to grant the Special Use permit for the Farmstand. The Board received a positive response on the 239 form from County Planning on the Farmstand.

Other discussions included: letter from Tony Ritter to Town Supervisor, urging the T.B. to begin the process of revising our Zoning Code book to be in agreement with the Comprehensive Plan. The Town officials want the consultant to be Dr. Pammer, head of Co. Planning Dept.

Training opportunities were discussed, because all board members need to complete 4 hours of training a year. these trainings are open to the public, and I have dates and times, if anyone is interested. (link)

A farmers market in Narrowsburg? the Chamber of Commerce will host a presentation by the woman who organized the Callicoon, Liberty, etc Markets on Thurs, January 31 at 5:30 PM at the Tusten Town Hall. Also, improved parking for Eaglefest was discussed because of growing attendance.

MOST IMPORTANT.... As of 2009, the five year period that the Sull West School Board agreed to maintain the Narrowsburg School ends, and the School building will go on the market. It was agreed that its important to zone out incompatible uses, and a letter was composed requesting that the Town Board take steps to create a dialogue between the School Board and the Town regarding the building. Clearly this brings up the updating of the Zoning Book....The School is in a General Residential zone. I would guess that there is a grandfathered special use as a school. So, at this point, this is the only possible use. I pointed out that the School Board has appointed a fiscal committee to look at options regarding the mothballed buildings, and they can be attended by anyone. Seems to me that someone from the Town Board should be attending the School Board meetings???? And, if any of you have ideas about the use of this building, now's the time to act on them.

After approving the letter about the school, the meeting as closed.
